Sourcing and accuracy

Our articles identify the sources behind their central claims and link to relevant research, official data, or other source material when available. Editorial team members check factual claims and correct errors before deciding whether an article is ready to publish.

We distinguish what a source reported from our own analysis. An encouraging claim does not become an established fact simply because it appears in an AI draft.

Context and uncertainty

We distinguish an early result from a proven solution, a pilot project from a widely adopted program, and a proposal from a completed action. We aim to explain both the progress and the important questions that remain.

How articles are produced

AI drafts GNN articles. Members of the editorial team read each draft, correct errors, check it for accuracy, and decide whether it is ready for publication. Articles are published under the Great News Network Editorial Team byline, which identifies the team accountable for the final article.

Exploring what could come next

GNN uses AI to investigate questions raised by the stories we cover. We look for possible ways to strengthen a result, address a remaining obstacle, adapt an approach to another setting, or test a new idea.
